Fron Hannity and Colmes (where Sean Hannity seemed visibly disturbed that he had to interview Dr. Paul… and even more upset that he had to announce that Ron Paul was in 1st place in the text message voting for the winner of the debate):

Americans did not do anything to cause it, but policies over many years caused and elicited hatred toward us so somebody was willing to commit suicide. For instance, the occupation with our military troops in their Holy Land in Saudi Arabia. Bombing a Muslim country for 10 years. Putting on sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of people. So that caused the anger

And this exchange with reporters from NRO’s Byron York:

“Who did that?” Paul snapped. “Who blamed America?”

“Well, your critics felt that you did.” [reporter]

“No, I blamed bad policy over 50 years that leads to anti-Americanism,” Paul said. “That’s little bit different from saying ‘blame America.’ Don’t put those words in my mouth.”

“But the policies were bad American policies?” [reporter]

“We’ve had an interventionist foreign policy for 50 years that has come back to haunt us,” Paul continued. “So that’s not ‘Blame America’ — that’s demagoguing, distorting issues…That’s deceitful to say those kinds of things.”
