Christian Conservative author Vox Day says he should:
Mr. Limbaugh, I am urging you to do the right thing. I am asking you to set aside all of the pragmatic political considerations that have reduced the Republican party to its current state and to endorse the only candidate who is genuinely devoted to returning conservative principles to the party and liberty to the people.
I am asking you, Mr. Limbaugh, to publicly endorse Rep. Ron Paul for president.
With respect,
Vox Day

I believe that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will not endorse Ron Paul
for this reason.
Rush and Sean, as well as alot of “Conservative” talk show hosts have been
defending this “War on Terror” as a national security issue.
I for one was also in this category. I believed this administration.
I thought that since the Liberals were against it, it MUST be needed.
That is, until I heard Dr. Paul explain the issue.
Dr Paul was the only politician in washington who was explaining the Un-
Constitutional effort to move the powers of the Legislative branch to
the Executive. I did not know this! He also explained how we are
bleeding ourselves to death with the Fed Reserve printing money, and
our borrowing from other nations to fund this Un-Constitutional war!
As Dr. Paul has stated, in observing 6000 years of human history,
Without exception, the concept of a paper-money experimentation has
FAILED everytime it has been tried!
I have had to show some humility in realizing that I was wrong!
I am willing to turn from my view of this war and this administration.
But I didn’t have a lot to lose in doing so. But I believe Rush, Sean,
and the rest do.
That is why, I don’t think we will see even true Conservative talk shows
endorsing Dr. Paul.
Dr. Paul’s supporters are in this alone!
God help us!
Dear MNJRUPP,
That must have been a typo: I just KNOW you didn’t mean to write “true Conservative talk shows”! You certainly aren’t referring to Limbaugh or Hannity. Those establishment shills are pro Patriot Act, pro “War on Terror” and pro transfer of power to the Executive branch. We’d have to have our heads completely in the sand to think those pseudo-cons have the slightest care what “true Conservative” means.
They talk a good game about being against globalism, but gloss over the War on Terror’s role in it.
These puppets are so busy with “conservative” and “liberal”, ignoring the only dichotomy that really matters: “headlong towards global government” vs. “preserving United States sovereignty”. The only difference between “conservative” and “liberal” in today’s landscape is this: are we going to go clockwise or counter-clockwise around the Constitution to achieve global government?
Did you really need Dr. Paul to set you straight? And what, indeed, do they have to lose by turning their backs on the party line? Certainly not their integrity.
Dear Vox,
Respectfully, why are you wasting your keystrokes appealing to Limbaugh? He’s a patriot to naught but his own bloated, festering ego, and has proven time and again that the Constitution, Bill of Rights and American sovereignty mean nothing to him–only ratings matter to him.
Remember the following:
“Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” (Pennsylvania Assembly, 1755 in a letter to the Governor of Pennsylvania; not Benjamin Franklin, who is widely credited with this quote);
and:
“…the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.” Hermann Goering.
Rush Limbaugh CAN’T endorse Paul.
Rush has already “painted himself into a corner” on the Iraq war. To endorse Paul would be impossible, since Paul was against the invasion from Day 1.
Secondly, Rush has repeatedly ridiculed Paul’s chances over the past several months, at one point saying something to the effect that Paul doesn’t stand a “snowball’s chance in hell” of winning. Well there you go… he can’t admit that he might have been WRONG, and foul up his stellar correctness percentage, can he? (Oh, when Hillary Clinton first ran for the Senate, he asserted matter-of-factly that she did not have a chance of winning. Lightning couldn’t strike the all-seeing “Maja-Rushie” twice, could it?)
All,
‘nough said eh!
Let’s move forward with our agenda, with or without Rush and Sean. Last I heard neither can vote more than once. We are not in need of 100% of the vote, merely a simple majority in enough key states!
May I suggest, the majority of our votes will be coming from the need-to-be-educated on the issues folks, not the unintelligent! We need to break down the philosophical positions into nuts and bolts behaviors for people to grasp and understand.
For starters, Dr. Paul premises an elimination of the IRS. How does that in fact come about if he were elected?
Ditto, on the Federal agencies. How does he effectuate their cessation?
How does he bring back the troops?
How about defending our borders?
What about the illegal immigrants present within our country?
What about the already in place Title IV benefits/ entitlements paid to states? Think about it $500 million of our Federal budget falls under this cateogory.
We need to have practical answers to these questions in order to intelligently change people’s minds from the status quo. Might I remind us all, WE NEED to have these answers. This campaign is different from all others, because it is grass roots driven- By us! Dr Paul has become the people’s voice- Your’s and mine. We are the true workers. We need to teach the people. We need intelligent answers to the above questions and others. We will win this race if we do our work!
This race has and will continue to become a race of the intellectual. There are not too few intellectuals tied to this platform and the libertarian agenda. Your voice and your brain, your skills and your time are needed!
RS
RS,
Wonderful job. I love what you have to say. I hope Ron Paul’s speech writers, etc. have that sort of thinking as well. When anyone says we need to eliminate the IRS, etc. it is shocking to us. Though we might agree with his principles, in no way can that happen overnight. We must ask, “how?”
If this man can genuinely write down several realistic goals during his presidency which make steps toward his overall goals, I believe the intelligent people you speak of will take him seriously.
This man is unlike any successful presidential candidate we have seen since I can remeber. He is not an amazing public speaker. He is not youthful, and he does not look like he would spend thousands on his hair, makeup, or a tan. He also speaks about ideas that are so radical to us but are amazingly patriotic and obvious. It makes one ask why we ever veered away from them.
That is what is so special about Dr. Paul. To him, the answers to our political problems are no brainers. We simply need to remember the principles our country was founded on. We can’t be impressed by big money and endorsements, we simply must decide based upon weighing the facts against the constitution.
A strong campaign for Paul rests upon two things in my mind. First, getting his word out. The more people hear the authority, sincerity, and patriotism of Ron Paul, the more people would be shocked at how far we’ve veered from our constitution and Bill of Rights. (He is the only candidate who seems like they even know and understand what the two are about.) And secondly, for the GOP to stand behind him as well as intellectual voters, he must make his steps back toward the constitution public and reasonable to understand. He certainly would have my vote!
(One more thing I’d like to mention, the more powerful his campaign becomes, the more serious his enemies will become. I don’t mean other candidates. I am implying those who typically purchase political votes, big money. I believe that if Paul becomes a serious candidate, he will be in grave danger from those who are willing to spend as much money as possible to stop his message. They will try and shut him up. To keep footholds on capital hill, etc., I’m scared to see what the morals of some corporations would lead them to do. Therefore, we must pray for this man’s protection, his family’s protection, and the protection of his exciting and patriotic message.)
Well stated fellow Patriots, the momentum of the Ron Paul Express (Choo, Choo)! I’ve never been this passionate about any potential President. I even gave a $50 contribution to his campaign today; I never contribute to political affairs and I really don’t have money to be throwing around, especially with Christmas nearing and our dollar falling ha ha. Move over Dad, I found a new hero.
I had shamefully strayed away from politics for the past two, three, four years (how long has this war(s) been going on? sarcastic humor) after countless attempts to persuade my liberal coworkers that perhaps the Bush-Cheney war wagon was necessary. I even found myself fabricating possible scenarios as to why things were going the way they were and why we were there. Well, to make a long story short, we all lost a lot of face as Republican/Bush supporters.
Quite frankly, Dr. Paul makes these guys look bad. Misleading statements of action or inaction have become so instrumental in our great American politics that when a passionate man like Dr. Paul stands on a debate forum and heaven forbid tells the people the truth and backs it up with historical facts in a well articulated manner, well it makes one ask the question to the Limbaugh-Hannity types, how could you not endorse Dr. Paul, especially when you claim to be conservative. I think and hope that they really lost touch with regular ol’ Americans and in fact underestimate what the people want in a Presidential candidate (Truthfulness).
Life is a learning process and man I’m learning a lot. I didn’t even know they made political guys like Dr. Ron Paul. I recall sitting down in front of the T.V. and watching my first GOP debate this election season and saying to the T.V. “let’s see what these cheese-balls are saying about the issues”. As I watched on, my expectations were met with the exception of one man who was rarely afforded an opportunity to participate. This docile looking guy started spitting fire of truth. Well, you know I got the same goose bumps and huge smile on my face as I’m sure you guys did. This was the start of the Dr. Ron Paul support to me.
Since when did the views of the Founding Father become irrelevant? With all that said, In God We Trust. God bless and protect Ron Paul your faithful servant! May the Revolution begin! Thank you for your time.
I too have concerns for the safety of Ron Paul. After being around long enough to witness what happened to JFK, RFK, MLK, the attempt on the last Pope, and President Reagan, look what happened to John Lennon. There’s still plenty of deranged nuts walking around.
I commend Congressman Paul in stating that he’s willing to die for his beliefs, however I hope that never happens especially before given a chance to accomplish his goals. To tell you the truth, I’m scared sh!tless that the closer he comes to winning the hearts and minds of most American people, the bigger the target he becomes.
But that’s just me.
All,
Our opinions aired, now we must do the work. May I suggest daily choosing to actively engage people on the election, the primaries, the issues, and the candidates. Ask if they have heard of Ron Paul. Ask what they know about him. Present a positive description of his platform. Use his website and the various blogs to supplement your discussion. Share the various videos (youtube.com). Remind people to view the upcoming debates. Buy a bumper sticker, a hat, a t-shirt and use them.
Visit other websites/ blogs. Seek those that are typically Republican or Democrat. Ron’s message of: freedom, no Iraq war, non-interventionist foreign policy, and peace resonates well with Democrates. Ron’s message of: less gov’t involvement, lower taxes, less gov’t spending and strict constitutional interpretation (rule of law) resonates well with Republicans.
Economic issues such as inflation, the devaluing of the dollar, returning back to the gold standard, and the federal reserve are more complex subjects for those capable.
We need not argue, merely present a rational, reasonable opportunity for people to consider the message. The message, if logical, proves itself. We need not prove it. It is self-evident!

Rush Limbaugh and the Sick Federal War on Pain Relief
by Rep. Ron Paul, MD
by Rep. Ron Paul, MD
Before the US House of Representatives, February 12, 2004
Mr. Speaker, the publicity surrounding popular radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s legal troubles relating to his use of the pain killer OxyContin hopefully will focus public attention on how the federal drug war threatens the effective treatment of chronic pain. Prosecutors have seized Mr. Limbaugh’s medical records to investigate whether he violated federal drug laws. The fact that Mr. Limbaugh is a high profile, controversial, conservative media personality has given rise to speculation that the prosecution is politically motivated. Adding to this suspicion is the fact that individual pain patients are rarely prosecuted in this type of case.
In cases where patients are not high profile celebrities like Mr. Limbaugh, it is pain management physicians who bear the brunt of overzealous prosecutors. Faced with the failure of the war on drugs to eliminate drug cartels and kingpins, prosecutors and police have turned their attention to pain management doctors, using federal statutes designed for the prosecution of drug dealers to prosecute physicians for prescribing pain medicine.
Many of the cases brought against physicians are rooted in the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s failure to consider current medical standards regarding the use of opioids, including OxyContin, in formulating policy. Opioids are the pharmaceuticals considered most effective in relieving chronic pain. Federal law classifies most opioids as Schedule II drugs, the same classification given to cocaine and heroin, despite a growing body of opinion among the medical community that opioids should not be classified with these substances.
Unfortunately, patients often must consume very large amounts of opioids to obtain long-term relief. Some prescriptions may be for hundreds of pills and last only a month. A prescription this large may appear suspicious. But according to many pain management specialists, it is medically necessary in many cases to prescribe a large number of pills to effectively treat chronic pain. However, zealous prosecutors show no interest in learning the basic facts of pain management.
This harassment by law enforcement has forced some doctors to close their practices, while others have stopped prescribing opioids altogether – even though opioids are the only way some of their patients can obtain pain relief. The current attitude toward pain physicians is exemplified by Assistant US Attorney Gene Rossi’s statement that “Our office will try our best to root out [certain doctors] like the Taliban.”
Prosecutors show no concern for how their actions will affect patients who need large amounts of opioids to control their chronic pain. For example, the prosecutor in the case of Dr. Cecil Knox of Roanoke, Virginia, told all of Dr. Knox’s patients to seek help in federal clinics even though none of the federal clinics would prescribe effective pain medicine!
Doctors are even being punished for the misdeeds of their patients. For example, Dr. James Graves was sentenced to more than 60 years for manslaughter because several of his patients overdosed on various combinations of pain medications and other drugs, including illegal street drugs. As a physician with over thirty years of experience in private practice, I find it outrageous that a physician would be held criminally liable for a patient’s misuse of medicine.
The American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), one of the nation’s leading defenders of medical freedom, recently advised doctors to avoid prescribing opioids because, according to AAPS, “drug agents set medical standards.” I would hope my colleagues would agree that doctors, not federal agents, should determine medical standards.
By waging this war on pain physicians, the government is condemning patients to either live with excruciating chronic pain or seek opioids from other, less reliable, sources – such as street drug dealers. Of course opioids bought on the street likely will pose a greater risk of damaging a patient’s health than opioids obtained from a physician.
Finally, as the Limbaugh case reveals, the prosecution of pain management physicians destroys the medical privacy of all chronic pain patients. Under the guise of prosecuting the drug war, law enforcement officials can rummage through patients’ personal medical records and, as may be the case with Mr. Limbaugh, use information uncovered to settle personal or political scores. I am pleased that AAPS, along with the American Civil Liberties Union, has joined the effort to protect Mr. Limbaugh’s medical records.
Mr. Speaker, Congress should take action to rein in overzealous prosecutors and law enforcement officials, and stop the harassment of legitimate physicians who act in good faith when prescribing opioids for relief from chronic pain. Doctors should not be prosecuted for using their best medical judgment to act in their patients’ best interests. Doctors also should not be prosecuted for the misdeeds of their patients.
Finally, I wish to express my hope that Mr. Limbaugh’s case will encourage his many fans and listeners to consider how their support for the federal war on drugs is inconsistent with their support of individual liberty and constitutional government.
Dr. Ron Paul is a Republican member of Congress from Texas.
