Take Action: Iowa Straw Poll
The Ames Straw Poll is tomorrow. So I’m passing on this appeal from the campaign:
The Iowa straw poll will be held tomorrow in Ames. Dr. Paul and his wife Carol are working nonstop, as are campaign staffers and volunteers.
We have only hours left to get Iowans to attend the straw poll and vote for Ron Paul.
A second television ad has been produced.

Illinois is also holding a Republican straw poll on August 16 at the state fair in Springfield. All eligible Illinois voters are allowed to participate and there is no fee. All eligible Illinois voters must present an Illinois Driver’s License or State photo ID card to participate. I encourage all Ron Paul supporters in Illinois to go to the fair and vote!

My assessment of the Ron Paul after the debate is that I don’t like him. He’ll never be the nominee. You can’t really think he’d win. I think I’d vote for Hillary first.

I think to believe that Ron Paul did not legitimately win the debate, you would also have to discredit other online or telephone voting systems like American Idol.
Ron Paul may not win the primaries but I think Americans have a right to hear about their options, and unfortunately the media deliberately discredits and marginalizes him.
It’s odd to hear a candidate speak his opinion rather than a pre-formulated and coached response to questions.
I think his worst enemy are his views on monetary reform. They ironically come surprisingly close to those of a couple past American Presidents, being Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy (also cited as two of the most knowledgeable past Presidents in terms of Economics).
You’ll find that “Honest” Abe was shot only weeks after introducing his intention to continue with the Monetary policy of Government controlled money (after the war). Similarly when JFK did the same thing trying to empower the American people with their own money ( Executive Order No. 10289), he was shot not long after.
I don’t think we’ll ever see widespread support for a politician from our corporations or mainstream media while they endorse this issue. It is simply the most abhorrent possible scenario the federal reserve could imagine. A great policy if you want America to stop living in a state of peonage, but you’ll never hear that side of the story.

Ronnie’s just a garden variety nutjob bouncing along with the bottom 1% of the no-hope, conspiracy-theory, odd-lotters in his pocket and having as much fun as possible until the lunatic fringe decides to put their hard earned to better use.
Boys will be boys.

Curtis you are exactly right. Ron Paul’s views are dead on, except for his total endorsement of the gold standard. Abe Lincolns “greenbacks” were not based on gold, but on trust that the Government accepted them by “fiat”. Money is merely a token of measure for value.
Our system today is the same only our “fiat” currency is created and distributed by a privately owned national bank, which expands the money supply with the backing of government debt, rather than government confidence directly.
A must see is the documentary video “Money Masters” on google video. And must read is the book “Secrets of the Temple” by William Greider

I agree with you Al about the total endorsement of gold standard. Ron’s view on this may be a tad overzealous, but at least he’s pointing in the right direction.
You can’t be 100% right on EVERY issue, otherwise you wouldn’t be human.
BTW if you guys are interested I’ve just created some pretty cool Ron Paul shirts. Take a look here and let me know your thoughts.
