If I hear one more Democrat say that we can’t drill our way out of our oil problem, I am going to lose it. Why, exactly, can’t we. Sure, we need to reform the monetary system and free the market to seek out systemic efficiencies and practical alternatives, but it challenges credulity when people claim that increasing supply will not lower demand and, by extension, prices. Since this is the primary argument that is going to be made by Barack Obama to explain away kowtowing to the statist environmental movement in the fall, it makes for a good study in how practical politics so often trumps common sense and economic reality.
