National Review, Torture, McCain and Che

Posted by Patrick Semmens in June 18th 2008

Over on the National Review, Mark Levin rushes to John McCain’s defense against George Will whose recent column goes after McCain for his criticism of the recent decision of the Supreme Court to allow habeas corpus rights for terror suspects being held in Guantanamo. Obama’s Veep

Posted by Patrick Semmens in June 15th 2008

Don-
What about Jim Webb for Obama’s VP?  Fred Reed makes the case here, but leaves out two key points:
1) He’s (relatively) good on the Second Amendment.  After all, he does bring his gun to Congress!
2) He appears genuinely anti-war.  He has an a son fighting in Iraq and he seems unlikely to want to play [...]

This week in a 5-4 decision the U.S.Supreme Court ruled that the detainees, some of whom have been held for six years, had rights under habeas corpus, a long-standing legal principle by which people can challenge their imprisonment.
While criticizing the decision John McCain made the following remarks:
The United States Supreme Court yesterday rendered a decision [...]

Amit Singh’s Defeat

Posted by Patrick Semmens in June 11th 2008

I missed Singh’s non-victory “victory party” last night, but my thoughts are summed up well by Richard Spencer who was there: “I don’t know what the Ellmore victory party was like, but I seriously doubt youth and talk of limiting government and getting out of Iraq were on display.”
As I noted last night, Singh [...]
